Damaged travertine floor help Description

To make a long story short, we have built the house from hell.  We fired out contractor half way through for stealing money and (http://maplered.com) putting in Material (http://g654.org) s in our home we didnt want.  Like an entire level of our 3 story house with travertine floors.

Our entryway, hallways, kitchen, nook, living room and (http://maplered.com) master bath are all 18" travertine Tiles (http://www.g682.net) .  The holes are all filled in, but it lacks any luster at all, so I am assuming they were never sealed.  Since this house has taken 2 years to build, the travertine floors are now a year old.  For an entire year, contractors have been installing plumbing fixtures, fireplace, cabinetry, etc... on these floors.  The entire lot of them are scratched and (http://maplered.com) look AWFUL.  No matter how many times we sweep, vacuum and (http://maplered.com) clean up the floors, they have this awful dull DUSTY haze look to them.Angry

Do we need to have them professionally restored?  We are moving into it in 8 days and (http://maplered.com) I know that more scratching is going to take place... I dont know what to do, as I get conflicting info everyplace I ask.  Can we buff them ourselves, and (http://maplered.com) then seal them?  I want a glossier (not high gloss, just not this awful dull finish) appearance, but am afraid it will only highlight the scratches...

Please help!  Thank you!
